To this day, prints of this work are the best-selling art prints in the entire United Kingdom. The work depicts a dancing couple, dressed elegantly, moving gracefully on the shoreline on a gloomy and windy day, sheltered by open umbrellas held by a maid and a butler. It is the latter who takes center stage in the painting through his singing: in Vettriano's imagination, the servant hums the melody of "Fly Me to the Moon", a well-known song by Frank Sinatra. The composition is refined and balanced: in the center stands a figure in a red dress, depicted from behind, barefoot, an emblem of freedom and happiness. The woman's pose is based on an image of the actress Orla Brady, who posed for a series of photographs and figure studies that were later published in the Illustrator's Figure Reference Manual (1987). The artist has stated that he imagined the scene for a long time before reproducing it; none of the subjects are facing the viewer, as if to protect their intimacy and maintain intact a deep sense of mystery.
